Overview
Travel from one great city to another on the Mediterranean Trail
tour. Begin by retracing the path of the Roman Empire, then travel to the seaside town of Sorrento on the
Amalfi coast where the spectacular scenery is matched only by the food. A day trip out to the Isle of
Capri and a visit to the Ancient City of Pompeii are perfect ways to farewell Italy before sailing to
Greece. It's two days of watersports and relaxation on the Greek island of Corfu before travelling to
Athens to see the Acropolis and Parthenon. Top it all off with 3 days of cruising around the Cycladic
Islands and you have the perfect end to the perfect holiday!
Itinerary
Day 1
Jet off to the trip of a lifetime awaiting you in Europe!
Arrive Rome Day 2
After making your way to the hotel in Rome, your
day is free is explore this ancient city. Tonight, meet your Tour Manager and get to know your fellow travellers
over dinner. Hotel - Dinner
Rome Day 3
Ancient and modern Rome await your discovery. Why
not take a guided tour of the Imperial Forum and walk in the footsteps of Gladiators? In your free time explore
the Vatican City and Sistine Chapel, snap up Italian fashions or just watch the world go by with a gelato (or

Rome to Sorrento Day 4
Travel south past Naples, the home of pizza, to the
beautiful resort town of Sorrento. Tonight take the opportunity to sample local food and wine and enjoy the
views of the Mediterranean. Hotel - Breakfast
Capri Excursion Day 5
Cruise on our complimentary boat out to the
stunning Isle of Capri. Spend the day roaming around the island – see the natural beauty of the Blue Grotto,
stroll through the hillside town of Anacapri, explore Marina Piccola, or sip on a cafe al fresco with the

Sorrento to Corfu Day 6
Today we visit Pompeii, why not take a guided tour
through this ancient city that was once one of the most advanced civilisations in Europe? Later, we travel
through southern Italy to board our overnight ferry to the Greek island of Corfu. Adriatic Ferry - Breakfast -

Corfu Days 7 and 8
Corfu is all that’s great about Greek island
living. You’ll immediately find yourself on ‘local time’, browsing the markets of
the UNESCO World Heritage listed old town and bargaining
with the laid-back locals.
Jump on board George’s boat optional with a bunch friends for a fun day out on the
water. It will give you another angle on idyllic Corfu. Work up an appetite swimming in the secluded spots and then
feast on a lunch of olives, salad, cheeses, fresh bread and dips – prepared with ingredients from George’s back
yard.
Corfu also gives you the chance to dive into action with a selection of water sports,
like parasailing, banana-boating and waterskiing. Otherwise hire a car for a deeper look into Corfu and venture
across the island to explore some beautiful, remote beaches. Hotel

Corfu to Athens Day 9
Traveling across the Peloponnese peninsula, we stop
at the Corinth Canal en-route to the capital of Greece, Athens. Hotel - Breakfast - Dinner

A whole day in Athens where our city tour includes
the first modern Olympic stadium, the Acropolis and the Parthenon. Hotel - Breakfast
Athens to Mykonos Day 11
This morning we leave Athens and board our cruise ship to head to Mykonos – island
of whitewashed houses and blue domed churches.

Cruising to Patmos via Kusadasi Day 12
In the morning, wake up to the Turkish port town of
Kusadasi. Rummage through the Grand Bazaar and go local bargaining for leather goods, jewellery or local crafts.
Otherwise hook up with the group and our Local Guide for an optional excursion to ancient Ephesus, a stunningly
preserved city that Mark Antony and Cleopatra once visited.
Our next port of call is Patmos, with its sacred spots and wild countryside. Get the
background from your Rep on why this island attracts both pilgrims and holiday makers. Explore the monasteries,
traditional settlements and country churches
Get into the spirit of the island with an optional excursion that takes you to
Patmos’ UNESCO World Heritage sites: the11th century Monastery
of the Apocalypse and to the Grotto of St John – the hilltop cave where John the Apostle lived for many

Cruising to Santorini via Crete Day 13
Today we start the day off with a visit to the
biggest of the Greek Islands, Crete.
Choose an optional excursion to the Palace of Knossos where our Local Guide will tell
you the story of this 4000 year old mythical Minoan Palace, where the minotaur (half-man/half-bull) was
slain.
Next up: Santorini. This island will make your jaw drop with its stunning natural
beauty – the result of a massive volcanic eruption. From the water, look up at the iconic blue–domed, whitewashed
churches.
Once we’re back on land, head up the cliff and the twisting stone steps, save your
breath on a donkey ride or take it easy in the cable car for views of neighbouring volcanic islands.
Your Tour Rep will fill you in on Fira – dramatically perched on the edge of the
crater- as the group explores its narrow streets. Get tips on the best places to pick up a piece of Santorini’s
famous jewellery and where to try out the delicious local specialty, domatoktedes (fried tomato balls).
Otherwise head to one of the distinctive black or red sand beaches, and soak up the
breathtaking scenery. You could jump on an optional boat ride out to the active volcanic island of Nea Kamini.
