Guatemala Singles Vacation- Experience the Mayan Prophecies Daily Itinerary

Guatemala CityDay 1, Arrive Guatemala City

Upon arrival at the Guatemala (GUA) airport you will be transferred to our hotel. Arrive early and take the afternoon (2:00pm) city tour, focused on Mayan history. Visit the Popol Vuh Museum, home to one of the major collections of Maya civilization art in the world. Then Kaminal Juyu, comprised of 200 platforms and pyramidal mounds, at least half of which were created before the end of the Pre classic period (AD 250).

Day 2, Guatemala City - Antigua

AntiguaAfter breakfast we drive to the central highlands of Guatemala and stop at the town of Antigua, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Antigua is among the world’s best preserved colonial cities. Enjoy its natural beauty and historic monuments that will make you feel time stopped some 300 years ago. The Spanish Colonial style permeates every part of the town: its houses, churches, squares, parks and ruins, also its traditions and folklore as well. Antigua is a city of charm and color where you can see and buy an overwhelming variety of attractive, handmade products that honor the traditions of generations of artisans.

In the afternoon visit San Antonio Aguascalientes, famous for its textiles. There is a two story market on the square that sells weavings and other crafts.

Pacaya VocanoDay 3 - Pacaya Volcano - Horseback Riding

A complete adventure in one day, walk and horseback ride at Pacaya Volcano, the most active volcano in Guatemala. Pacaya is still active, but most of the time the activity is low enough that it can safely be climbed. There are two trails to reach the top of the volcano, one takes about 90 minutes and it is more difficult, the other is an easy one and takes about 1 hour. We also have the opportunity to horseback ride to the top of the volcano.

Due to the volcano's activity, the area close to the top changes continuously and can vary from week to week, or even from day to day. It may or may not be possible to reach the crater's edge, and you may or may not see lava.

Day 4 - Coffee Plantation - Canopy Zip Line

Antigua is surrounded by great coffee plantations and has one of the best coffees in the world. It has been Coffee Plantationacclaimed by Starbucks and is exported to Europe and Japan as a gourmet style coffee. Visit one of the oldest coffee plantations in Guatemala to see the process of how the coffee is harvested and toasted before it gets to your cup.

In the afternoon time to have a nice adventure with the Canopy Zip Line. Zip through the trees in the middle of the forest with fantastic views of the valley below and the surrounding volcanoes. Those not willing to "fly" can walk the forest trail and watch the zip liners overhead.

Day 5 - San Juan La Laguna & Santiago de Atitlá
Lake Atitlan
Day trip to Lake Atitlán, one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. “Atitlán” is a Mayan word that translates to “the place where the rainbow gets its colors”. Upon arrival discover the magic that surrounds  us while we boat across the Lake and visit two different Tzutuhil Villages. Visit a small town around the lake, and experience the Mayan culture to the purest. Then we transfer to Santiago to visit the confraternity of the local saint named Maximon or Ri Laj Mam. Travelers come from all over to ask for health and prosperity in their lives. Whether you believe in it or not, make sure to enjoy this mystical experience.

Transfer back to Panajachel by boat to have lunch. Panajachel is an 800 year old town of about 14000 people, mostly Kaqchikel Mayas and some foreigners from every corner of the globe, living inside that rainbow.

Day 6 - Chichicastenango & Iximcé
Iximce
This morning explore the archaeological site of Iximché, “The Land of Corn”, the first capital of Guatemala and the last Mayan City. according to the Mayan Calendar and a little gift to remember.

Chichicastenango’s marketNext we visit Chichicastenango’s market, the most colorful and exciting place in the Mayan Highlands and the only place in Guatemala that is 100% Quiché population. Admire the historical and mystic Church of Santo Tomás, where the Mayan bible was discovered. Witness Mayan ceremonies inside the church and present gifts to the Mayan God’s if you wish.

Transfer to Panajachel for overnight accommodations.

Day 7 - Tikal
Tikal
Early in the morning we take a flight to Flores, Petén to explore the archeological sites of Tikal. Tikal is a national park  where the native flora and fauna still flourish relatively undisturbed.
In addition to it's numerous temples and pyramids, Tikal presents a wonderful opportunity for animal and bird-watching. Roaring howler monkeys and squawking parrots provide nature's soundtrack and along the paths, spider monkeys, gray foxes, coatis-mundis, deer, and peccary are visible to the visitor.

We spend the night in Flores.

Day 8 - Yaxha - Guatemala City
