Malawi Magic Singles Tour Itinerary
Departing Lilongwe to the East, we aim for Lake Malawi and Senga Bay. Senga Bay is a small town with a beautiful beach and some of the best curios in Malawi can be found at the country’s biggest craft market. The lake’s blue tranquil waters cover one fifth of the country and provide the optional activities of snorkling, diving and canoeing.
From Senga Bay we enjoy a 2 night stop at Cape Maclear. Malawi's people are well-known for their friendliness and wherever you go you will receive a fantastic welcome. There are a wide variety of options available to help you pass the time.
The southern Zomba Plateau region is a cool contrast to the heat of the low plains. This former capital was settled by the British for this very reason. The area offers a pleasant variety of short walks through woodland forest, around waterfalls and lakes, beside clear running streams or across open grassland. We visit the colourful local market with its mix of witchdoctors, tin smiths, second hand clothing merchants and fruit and vegetable sellers.
Crossing the border into Zambia, we overnight in Chipata - the gateway town to South Luangwa. Chitenje, the traditional Zambian cloth wraparounds, which are for sale in the market make a multi-colored display. An early departure over some slow and bumpy roads is our introduction to South Luangwa National Park.
With an abundance of animals, South Luangwa National park stands out as one of Africa's great parks and one in which you are most likely to see Leopard. Hippo and Crocodile can be found in the river and you may see Elephant wandering through our camp at night. An optional night drive allows time to search for the nocturnal species.
We return to Malawi and Lilongwe, where it all began, and unfortunately now ends.
*Depending on the group size you might have one crew member showing you Namibia's highlights. This tour is designed for those aged over 50.
