Mediterranean Summer Singles Cruise Itinerary

Cruise Day 1: Venice, Italy  (Sunday: August 23 / 5:00PM)
You could start a discussion about Venice by praising its restaurants, wine bars, marble churches or blown glass. But you probably won't. You'll likely start with the fact that Venice is built on water. It is a place where people either float slowly down palace-lined man-made waterways or stroll down narrow alleyways. There's no more extraordinary place to find yourself, or lose yourself. Be sure to stay in Venice before your next European cruise.
Welcome Aboard - Celebrity Infinity  (Boarding Time: 5:00pm - 9:00pm)Italy Gondola Ride

It’s known for the Norman Messina Cathedral, with its Gothic portal, 15th-century windows and an astronomical clock on the bell tower. Nearby are marble fountains decorated with mythological figures, like the Fontana di Orione, with its carved inscriptions, and the Neptune Fountain, topped by a statue of the sea god.

Other major landmarks include the lavish Royal Palace and Castel Nuovo, a 13th-century castle.

The port area also includes the 16th-century Michelangelo Fort. Nearby, the National Archaeological Museum displays bronze and ceramic artifacts. Northeast of town are the Terme Taurine, the ruins of a Roman thermal bath complex.
Included Shore Excursion: Ostia Antica and Cerveteri Private Shore Excursion - These landmarks of Roman history are often compared to the likes of Pompeii. We'll get to see the beautifully preserved Roman Excavations and Castle of Ancient Ostia. The excavations of Ancient Ostia are quite extensive and gives us a clear sense of what a Roman city must have been like. Throughout the site, we can see the layout of roman houses, temples, shops, theaters, etc., boasting numerous marvelous mosaics that decorate the pavements, many of which are still perfectly preserved. They provide us with a goldmine of information on roman life. A good way to end our visit here would be to venture up the steps of the theatre, founded in the age of Augustus, for a delightful panoramic view of the site.
Cerveteri italyThe most famous attraction of Cerveteri is the Necropoli della Banditaccia which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It covers an area of 988 acres, of which 24 acres can be visited, encompassing a total of 1,000 tombs often housed in characteristic mounds. The Necropoli della Banditaccia is the largest ancient necropolis in the Mediterranean area and constitutes the most important Etruscan burial ground and one of the greatest archeological complexes of the classical world. The town also offers a very charming medieval backdrop for a nice stroll or a quiet outdoor lunch in an ancient square.
