The long tail boat trip is a perfect way to start our exploration of Bangkok . Navigate  along the Chao Phraya River and venture into the many lively inner canals which offer some fantastic views of the local Thai life close up.

Along the way we make a stopover at Wat Arum, the temple of Dawn, before continuing to the Grand Palace, dedicated to the Thai Royal Family’s ceremony. Nearby are the magnificent Wat Phra Kaew, which is famous for the Emerald Buddha Image and the Vimarnmek Museum, the world's largest building entirely made of golden teak. After a stop for lunch, we visit this  complex and drive through the many vibrant streets of China Town to one of the most significant temples in Bangkok. The Wat Pho houses a gigantic gold plated Reclining Buddha.

Tonight we take the elevator to the 76th floor to the Highest International Buffet in Thailand for our Welcome Dinner.

Vacation Day 3 - Bangkok - Ayuthaya
AyuthayaWe drive north out of town though the scenic countryside to Ayuthaya, the ancient capital of Siam from 1350 to 1767 AD. This glamorous city was all but destroyed by the hands of Burmese, however it is still fascinating to explore the ruined temples. On arrival visit the largest temple of Wat Phra Sisanphet, used as the Royal Temple Palace by several kings. The next site is Wat Chai Wattanaram built by King Prasathong in 1630, a huge prang surrounded by smaller ones to symbolize mount Meru, the home of the heavenly gods.

We continue to Bang Pa In, which was served as the summer palace for many Thai monarchs. This structure has a captivating collection of marvelous pavilions in a variety of Thai, Chinese, Italian and Victorian architectural styles.

Welcome onboard the luxurious cruiser “Grand Pearl” at Wat Potangtai Pier near Bangsai (the royal folk arts and handicrafts center). Superb buffet lunch which includes a delightful variety of oriental and western cuisine will be served. Relax and enjoy the fascinating scenery on the River of Kings as we cruise back to Bangkok.

Vacation Day 4 - Bangkok - Damnern Saduak - Kanchanaburi - Sai Yok
thailand jungle raftsHeading out of town we make our way to Kanchanaburi with a stopover at the picturesque floating market of Damnern Saduak, which opens early in the morning till noon. We include these in a short sightseeing tour before we make our way though the beautiful countryside to Sai Yoke national park.

Check into our Floating Jungle Rafts, the magnificent close-to-nature floating lodge. Enjoy the stunning nature surroundings of the tropical forest, a unique blend of the culture and tradition of Mon people, and the history of World War II.  Dine under the clear blue sky and see the river flowing at its own pace.

The exploration of Kanchanaburi Region continues with a drive to the Hellfire Pass. This world famous site features the fascinating museum chronicling the events of World War II and the notorious "Death Railway". This rail link was all but partly destroyed by the offensive, however it is still fascinating to walk along the ruins.

Chiang Mai has been always known for the exquisite handicrafts made from hill tribe people’s traditional wares. Set off on a short drive to the villages of Sankampaeng and Borsarng to see the various cottage industries including silk weaving, wood carving, silver ware and umbrellas making.

On the way back to our hotel, we drive through the old city of Chiang Mai.  Relax before tonight's dinner show at Kantok restaurant. Sit on the floor and eat native treats from little baskets.

thailand elephant2 2a8q
Today we make our way through the scenic mountain backdrop to Chiang Dao Elephant Camp, which is 30 miles northwards of Chiang Mai. Visit the elephant camp set in a lush jungle area and watch the many elephants perform amazing feats of strength and skill at the command of the mahouts. The demonstration includes elephant bathing in the river, working in the jungle, dragging and pushing logs. Even see elephants playing basketball and painting. The highlight of the day is our exhilarating elephant trek through the jungle, past bamboo trees and hanging creepers.

Then relax as we board a short bamboo raft trip along the Mae Taeng River. Next we drive a few miles to a Padong "long neck" tribe village. The women of the tribe wear long brass coils around their neck which actually pushes the collarbone down, giving them the appearance of an extended neck. This tribe has come from Burma as refugees in recent years due to the persecution of the Burmese government. Spend some time in the village before we drive back to Chiang Mai.

Tonight free time to visit the vibrant night market which is full of local treasures.

We will also find a large number of other animals including crocodiles, ostriches, single hump camels, kangaroos and an aviary of exotic birds.

Our drive continues to the world famous Pattaya Beach, nestled along a picturesque bay on the East Coast of the Gulf of Thailand. From a fishing village in the 60's, Pattaya has emerged as a favorite Southeast Asian vacation spot. Check to our hotel before you decide on the night attractions for your choice.

Vacation Day 9 - Pattaya - Coral Island

Nothing beats spending the day relaxing and working on your tan on an idyllic island. Our day begins with a boat trip towards Koh Lan (Coral Island) in the west of Pattaya Straits. Spend the day hanging out on beautiful beaches and swimming in translucent water with an abundance of coral. Optional activities including para-sailing, jet skiing and wind surfing are also available. If you don't want to get wet you can view the coral from a glass bottom boat.
