Four Points Arusha poolVacation Day 1: Arrive Arusha, Tanzania
Your safari vacation begins with a warm welcome by our Tanzania representative at the Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Go through customs, get your luggage and our driver will transfer you to the group's hotel, The Four Point Arusha. Established 1894,it is one of the oldest hotels in East Africa. The hotel features free wi-fi, a 24-hour gym, outdoor swimming pool and four authentic restaurants and bars. Meet your fellow travelers, relax and have an optional dinner.  Get a good night's sleep as the excitement starts tomorrow.
 
Vacation Day 2: Arusha / Ndutu Area (173 Miles – 6 hours)
Wildebeest CalvingAfter breakfast we will be picked up from our hotel and drive approximately 173 miles to the Ndutu Area, the best location in the Tanzanian wilderness to witness herds of animals roaming freely, enjoying the green pasture. The herds of Wildebeest migration have chosen Ndutu as the best place in the world to feed their calves and teach them life experiences including both migrating from one place to another and running and escaping from carnivores. Ndutu area grows healthier Wildebeest calvegrasses which, gives energy to the mothers and little calves for quick recovery after birth, Ndutu is well known as a calving center for Wildebeests and the best time to visit is between January thru March. Ndutu plain extends to South plains of the Great Serengeti national park, of which this tour will give you a chance to visit.

Vacation Day 3: Full Day Ndutu Area
Lions TanzaniaDepart very early in the morning to search for the annual great wildebeest migration (whereby wildebeest, zebra and gazelle migrates from Masai Mara and central Serengeti and go back to Ndutu Area of calving. The calving season will last for the next six weeks, with approximately 8,000 young wildebeests born every day in the peak calving period. Witnessing a newly born calf capable of running in a matter of minutes is one of nature’s most incredible events. Ndutu also supports many species of wildlife including Lion, African Leopard, African Elephant, cheetah, African Buffalo, Thomson's and Grant's gazelle, topi, eland, waterbuck, hyena, baboon, impala, Ndutu Kati Kati Luxury Tented Camp African wild dog and giraffe. The area also boasts about 500 bird species, including ostrich, secretary bird, Kori bustard, crowned crane, marabou stork, martial eagle, lovebirds and many species of vultures.

Vacation Day 4: Ndutu Area / Serengeti National Park (50 miles – 1 hour)
Elephants Serengeti After breakfast, our safari continues with both a morning and an afternoon game drive in the world famous Serengeti national Park, Tanzania's oldest and most popular National Park, also a world heritage site. Serengeti is known for its massive annual migration of wildebeest and zebra. Seeking new pasture, the herds move north from their breeding grounds in the grassy southern plains. Many cross the marshy western corridor’s crocodile-infested Grumeti River. Others veer northeast to the Lobo Hills, home to black eagles. Even without the mass migration, the Serengeti is still an exciting and spectacular place that still cannot fail to enthrall.

ngorongoro crater viewVacation Day 5: Serengeti / Ngorongoro Crater Floor (90 miles – 3 hours)
Breakfast at 600am. Thereafter we descend into Ngorongoro Crater floor (11.9 9 miles in diameter, 2000 feet deep, 117 sq miles) for our game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most densely crowded African wildlife areas in the world and is home to an estimated 30,000 animals including some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhinos. Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro Crater supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of Ngorogoro Craterwildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque crater is its huge population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard. Ngorongoro Crater is often called 'Africa's Garden of Eden' the '5th Natural Wonder of Africa'. This breathtaking oasis provides a haven for both predator and prey to live among grasslands.

Vacation Day 6: Lake Manyara
Hippos Lake ManyaraAfter breakfast, we drive to Lake Manyara for a half day exploration. Lake Manyara National Park is 78 miles west of Arusha town and covers an area of 127 square miles. The Park is noted for its beauty and incredibly lush acacia forest of giant fig and mahogany trees, which are home to troops of baboons and blue monkeys. The park is also home to a large numbers of buffaloes, giraffes, elephants, impalas and a Hippo lake, where large numbers of hippos usually gather.
Well known for its birds (over 400 different species), Lake Manyara is one of the few places where Giraffes you’ll be able to see the Ground Hornbill and the Crested Eagle. This park has become famous for the the climbing lions and the flamingos in the lake shore.
The landscapes of this park are absolutely stunning, very different from the Serengeti for example. The game drives are done along the shore of the lake, providing incredible views of giraffes and buffalos in the foreground with the lake, flamingos and flat plains in the horizon. Great photo opportunities.

Kendwa Rocks Beach HotelVacation Day 7: Lake Manyara / Zanzibar
After breakfast we travel to the Kilimanjaro airport for our flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival on the island we will transfer to the Kendwa Rocks Beach Hotel, a one hour drive from Zanzibar Town towards the northern tip of the island. The hotel is located on one of the most fantastic beaches of East Africa, where we can see the lighthouse of nearby Tumbatu Island. Enjoy sunbathing or book an optional snorkelling, diving or fishing excursion and enjoy small boat trips on the turquoise waters. Beautiful sunsets are everyday thrill and moonlighted nights on the white coral and seashell beach make an unforgettable evening.

 
Vacation Day 8: Stone Town, Zanzibar
stonetown zanzibarEnjoy breakfast before we depart for our tour of Zanzibar's Stone Town, where history appears to stand still. See Zanzibar's bustling market, winding alleyways, two cathedrals and countless mosques. There are distinctive features of Arab and Indian urban architecture to discover at every turn, such as the famous Zanzibar doors, elaborately carved with ornaments and verses from the Q’ran (Arab) or plants and animals (Indian) and decorated with brass studs, quaint balconies and verandas, small hidden gardens, saint’s graves, and much more.
stone townWalk along the narrowest streets in the world and learn of the fascinating history of Zanzibar’s capital city and its significant areas, buildings and historical sites. Notice how Zanzibar’s cosmopolitan roots (Arabs, Indians, Yemenis, Persians, Portuguese, British, Chinese and others) blend with African traditions to shape a unique culture. 
Visit Stone Town’s colorful main market in Darajani bustling with locals selling fresh vegetables and baskets of tropical fruits. Continue to the site of the former slave market and the Anglican cathedral Stone town boatsbuilt in 1873. From there we’ll visit the palace of the former Sultan of Zanzibar, the 'Hamamni Persian Bath', the Old Fort which is next to the 'House of Wonders' and many other buildings that reflect the variety of cultural influences.
Stone Town has some excellent gifts shops with plenty of souvenirs and handicrafts to choose from. There will be time to make your purchases before we return to our beach hotel.

Vacation Day 9: Zanzibar Beach or Optional Tour
Kendwa Rocks Beach
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and spend the day at leisure. Zanzibar offers attractions and activities such as scuba diving, glorious beaches, fresh seafood and much more. For those that are a little restless there is a small forest in the interior called Jozani that has indigenous red colobus monkeys, and a spice tour in one of the small farms just outside Zanzibar Town are a fascinating glimpse into why this island has become so famous. So take an optional tour or just relax at the our beach resort, the choice is yours.
Tonight we gather for our Farewell Dinner at one of the local restaurants. Overnight at Kendwa Rocks Beach Hotel.

 

Vacation Day 10: Zanzibar – Fly Kilimanjaro – Fly Home.
Today is the end of our Tanzania Safari and Zanzibar vacation. Transfer to the Zanzibar Airport for your flight to Kilimanjaro where you will connect with your international flight back home.
