Vacation Day 1: Arrival in Guayaquil (Friday, April 25, 2025)
GuayaquilYou will be picked up at the airport and taken to your hotel. Guayaquil is located on the western bank of the Río Guayas. The metropolis is the country’s largest city and its commercial center. The port is an important stop for international imports and exports on the Pacific coast. Stroll around the new riverfront “Malecón 2000” that combines green areas and shopping malls along the city’s coastline and has become Guayaquil’s landmark. Don’t miss the picturesque Las Peñas district and explore the city’s growing art scene.

Vacation Day 2: Guayaquil - "City Tour" ( Saturday, April 26, 2025)

classic gothic style CathedralStart your Guayaquil City Tour at the Simon Bolívar Park. Here, visit the classic gothic style Cathedral, which was completely rebuilt after the 1896 fires that destroyed many of the city’s beautiful wooden buildings. Located north of the city center, the Las Peñas district is the oldest and most picturesque. Admire the 400-year-old colonial houses that have now become art galleries or workshops and stroll around the open-air painting and sculpture exhibitions. Then, as you walk along the beautiful boardwalk “Malecón 2000” by the Guayas River, appreciate the river and city views.

End your tour with a visit to the Historical Park, located on the banks of the Guayas River. The park was built in 1997 as a theme park and is aimed to exhibit the history and culture of the old province of Guayaquil. The site also recreates the architecture, traditions and the urban and rural life, mixed with a beautiful natural park full of a diverse vegetation that form different natural and wildlife areas with their respective flora and fauna.

Vacation Day 3: Guayaquil-Galapagos Islands (Sunday, April 27, 2025)

Galapagos Galapagos Sea LionsIn the morning you will be taken to the airport for your flight to the Galapagos Islands.
Galapagos - the Enchanted Islands - doubtlessly are the highlight of every Ecuador trip and you also should not miss a visit, for it is the most unique living museum of evolutionary changes and you would get to know a variety of exotic species endemic to this Archipelago! Galapagos is the perfect setting to experience the evolutionary changes, which have led to a new understanding of live on earth. Animals unafraid of man and so different from any others found elsewhere, make visitors wonder about their existence on our planet. Among the animals found, are the different species of giant “Galapagos” tortoises that gave the islands their name, a variety of birds and marine mammals such as iguanas, sea lions, dolphins, whales as well as a great number of fish. Among the flora, the most distinctive are mangroves and endemic cacti -to mention only some of them!

Your guide will welcome you at the Baltra airport. Then, take a bus and a ferry to the Santa Cruz Island.

Galapagos Galapagos TurtleSanta Cruz Island is the second largest island and is located in the middle of the archipelago. Colonized in the 1920’s, Puerto Ayora is the main human settlement with the most important harbor in the Galápagos. After Isabela Island, Santa Cruz is home to the second largest population of giant tortoises (about 3000). Discover the island’s beautiful beaches and bays with sea lions, marine turtles, and seabirds. Or, take your adventures off the beaten track to its remote highlands and verdant landscapes.

Ride through the highlands and observe the change in vegetation: from arid landscapes filled with cacti to the lush rainforest. Take a short stop and observe the twin craters. These sinkholes were created by the collapse of a volcanic roof caused by tectonic movements and erosion. The Giant Tortoise Reserve in the Santa Cruz highlands is one of the few places you can see these giants in their natural habitat. The large, pre-historic looking animals can be seen as you walk along the trails during their migration from the coast to the highlands. It is also one of the best sites to observe the short-eared owl, another endemic specie from the Galápagos.

Enjoy lunch in a typical hacienda and continue your journey towards Puerto Ayora.

Vacation Day 4: Galapagos Islands (Monday, April 28, 2025)
IguanaFrom Puerto Ayora,Leisurely walk to Tortuga Bay, one of the longest white sandy beaches in the archipelago. Along its shores, keep an eye out for marine iguanas, sea turtles, and migratory birds. On the west, a rocky edge divides the beach and creates a calm cove ideal to swim around the bay. Enjoy your afternoon at leisure.  Bring your bathing suit and snorkel gear (also available to rent) and enjoy the day in the water at one of the best Galapagos snorkel sites Tortuga Laguna or spend the afternoon shopping back in town.

Vacation Day 5 Galapagos Islands (Tuesday, April 29, 2025)

Galapagos blue footed boobyDuring a full day boat excursion you’ll visit one of the islands North Seymour, South Plazas, Bartholomew or Santa Fe. Each of the islands has its own significant beauties to offer and regardless which you’ll visit, you’ll definitely enjoy your stay. Lunch on board and snorkelling activity included. North Seymour is a flat island that was uplifted from the sea by underground seismic activity. Located North of Baltra, it is one of the best places to see Blue Footed Boobies and Magnificent Frigate birds. Blue Footed Boobies are found on the flat area near the coast of this island (they nest from May to November). Continuing the trail to the interior, one stumbles upon the biggest congregation of Magnificent Frigate birds in the island. While on North Seymour, there is a high chance of seeing a great show of acrobatic flight, namely a Frigate bird robbing a booby, a gull or even another Frigate bird the food.  South Plazas Island, where a large colony of sea lions lounges daily in the equatorial sun. Soon you will notice their subtly diabolic grins and wonder what they find so humorous; you only hope the joke isn't on you! South Plazas also boasts excellent examples of typicalGalapaganean flora such as the towering cacti "trees" that form the principal diet for boththe land iguanas and the cactus finch. Other birds that may flutter by include lava gulls, yellow warblers and red-billed tropicbirds with their elaborate tails.

Vacation Day 6 Galapagos Islands ( Wednesday, April 30, 2025)
Galapagos Glapagos IslandAnother fun filled day out on the water. Full day boat excursion visiting one of the islands North Seymour, South Plazas, Bartholomew or Santa Fe. Bartholomew, a tiny island of just 1.2 km 2 , offers the visitor one of the most spectacular views of the archipelago. Bartholomew is located near the west coast of James, on the other side of Sullivan Bay. It is famous for its Pinnacle Rock, which is the representative characteristic of Bartholomew. The climb to the 114 m high peak is both challenging and worth-doing. On your way up, you will encounter different formations of volcanic origin including spatter and tuff cones, lava flows and lava tubes. Once on the summit, there is a spectacular view of the surroundings. Bartholomew is also a must for the visitor interested in geology. Penguins are common in the bay area.

Vacation Day 7 - Galapagos Islands (Thursday, May 1, 2025)
Galapagos Penguins GalapagosVisit the Charles Darwin Research Center which was inaugurated 1994 in Puerto Ayora. Over 200 scientists and volunteers are active in the conservation and research projects for the most famous resident of the Galápagos: the Giant Tortoise. Stroll around the impressive giant prickly- pear cactus forest or visit the baby turtles that are affectionately cared for until they can be repatriated. Learn about the tortoises’ different life stages: from incubation, hatching, and growth periods. Head to the port for our transfer from Santa Cruz Island to Isabela Island by speedboat.

galapagos islands volcan sierra negra y volcan chicoIsabela Island is the archipelago’s biggest island and occupies about 60% of the land area. About 1 million years ago, the merger of 6 volcanoes formed the island: Cerro Azul, Sierra Negra (Santa Tomás), Alcedo, Ecuador, Darwin, and Wolf. Today, all except the Ecuador volcano are active, making it a very active place on Earth. The most recent volcanic activity was on June 26 th 2018, when the Sierra Negra volcano erupted. Isabela’s unique landscape, lava fields, beautiful beaches, and relaxing atmosphere offer travelers a matchless experience in nature.

Vacation Day 8 - Galapagos Islands (Friday, May 2, 2025)

Las TintorerasFrom Puerto Villamil, take a short boat ride to a small rocky islet known as “Las Tintoreras”, one of the island’s most beautiful sites. Here, sharks can be seen resting in the lava canals. Observe marine iguanas and playful sea lions on the sandy beach. Put your mask and snorkel on to explore the underwater world filled with colorful fish, sea turtles, and much more. The Wetlands Route is a 5km series of trails that can be explored by foot or by bike. PalermoWelcome to Palermo, Sicily’s vibrant capital city! Once you arrive at Palermo Airport, transfer on your own to our hotel and enjoy the day at leisure. To give everyone a chance to arrive, no activities are planned. Our vacation will begin at 7:00pm with a meet and greet and a walk to a local restaurant (dinner not included) with your fellow travelers. Palermo is the fifth largest Italian city with approximately 1 million inhabitants. It is. Fascinating city full of contrasts - you will be in awe from historical palaces contrasting with the shabby looking houses but you will fall in love with local cuisine such as arancini - the fried rice balls or grilled octopus put in the traditional bread roll called vastedda. Palermo feels like you stepped into the Orient or even into an Arabic world. It is full of contrasts but it is appealing to visitors and it has a strong charisma.

Vacation Day 2: Palermo - Monreale ( August 12, 2024)
Palermo street foodsAfter breakfast, we’ll set off to discover Palermo’s heart, through its traditional “street food.” Our local knowledgeable guide will take us for a walk through the historic part of the city and its vibrant outdoor markets. Indulge all your senses on a walking tour of Palermo's rich street food traditions. Sample some of Palermo's unique street foods, such as 'panelle' and 'meusa.' while learning about the history of this amazing city. Our tour also includes stops at the main historical squares and several hidden spots of the city center, ending with a visit of the splendid Cathedral of Palermo. The Cathedral of Palermo was founded by Gualtiero Offamilio, archbishop of the town from 1169 to 1190. It was a mosque in Islamic times and converted into a cathedral church by Roberto the Guiscardo after the conquest of Palermo. It is a true treasure of Norman architecture.
Arab Norman cathedralThis afternoon we head to Monreale, with its charm and beauty, it is one of Sicily's most important cultural sights. Today with a local guide, we’ll visit the hilltop town of Monreale to have a private guided tour of its impressive 12th-century Arab-Norman cathedral, with one of the largest and most beautiful displays of mosaic artwork in the world. This cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage List monument! Together we will also discover the old part of Monreale, the 13th-century alleys and the small shops where local artisans will reveal the secrets of mosaics. After plenty of time to explore the Cathedral, and the surrounding quaint town, we’ll head back to Palermo.
Tonight enjoy our Welcome dinner at a local restaurant.

Vacation Day 3: ( August 13, 2024)
Breakfast at the hotel before our adventure continues as we depart Palermo for southeastern Sicily. En route, we’ll stop for a private guided walking tour of the UNESCO archaeological site of the Valley of the Temples, boasting better preserved Greek temples than exist in Greece itself. Set on a gorgeous plateau, filled with olive and almond trees, the Valley of the Temples houses the remains of seven Greek temples. One of these is described as “the most impressive surviving Doric temple in the Greek world after the Parthenon in Athens,” according to UNESCO. We’ll have time for a quick lunch, on our own, before continuing on to our 4-star hotel in the quaint hamlet of Ortigia for a free evening.

Vacation Day 4: Ortigia ( August 14, 2024)
The Burial of St. LucyOrtigia is a tiny town packed with 2,500 years of history and houses one of the most beautiful piazzas in all of Italy, awash in white limestone. Ortigia’s Cathedral, built on the site of an ancient Temple of Athena, has been described as “all of Sicily in a single building.” The cathedral was built as a Greek temple before being expanded by the Romans, then converted by the Byzantines into a basilica, made into a mosque by the Arabs, added onto by the Normans and adorned by the Spanish. All of these historical elements remain visible today, 25 centuries later. We’ll have an included private guided tour of the Cathedral, along with the adjacent church housing the Caravaggio painting, “The Burial of St. Lucy.” Some free time this afternoon to enjoy at leisure before we reconvene, for a group dinner at a local osteria.

Vacation Day 5: Ortigia - Taormina ( August 15, 2024)
TaorminaAfter breakfast in our hotel, we depart Ortigia and head north, toward the beautiful seaside town of Taormina, in the shadow of Mt. Etna. Along the way, we’ll stop at a local vineyard that produces local DOC wines for a tour and wine-tasting at the estate and some free time before we continue on to our hotel in Taormina. The history of Taormina is very long and goes back to the 4th century BC with narrow cobbled-stone streets and all tourist sites can easily be reached by foot. After reaching our hotel we set out to discover the best of Taormina with a guided walking tour. Look forward to seeing landmarks like the Ancient Theatre of Taormina, strolling the Corso Umberto, admiring fountains and churches, and soaking in the dramatic views, all while learning about the city’s history.

Vacation Day 6: Taormina - Mt Etna ( August 16, 2024)
etna 2979915 1280The best way to connect with any local culture is through food, and nowhere is this more true than Sicily. With this cooking class,we’ll visit the morning market with a local chef and restaurateur. Together, we will choose produce for our hands-on cooking lesson at the market in Taormina like a local before learning how to prepare a variety of traditional Sicilian dishes with the Chef in his restaurant kitchen. Enjoy the fruits of our labors over lunch afterwards, served with two local wines. This afternoon we will visit Mt. Etna, the most striking sight in eastern Sicily, but visiting Europe’s largest active volcano on your own is challenging. With this tour, leave puzzling out the logistics to the experts and explore the volcanic peak with a local mountain guide using 4 x 4 jeeps and a cable car. Cross lava fields and old-growth forests, stop to take in the views, and learn about the history of the volcano and its native flora and fauna from your guide. Tonight we gather together for music, fantastic views and our Farewell Dinner.

Vacation Day 7: ( August 17, 2024)
Breakfast at the hotel before saying goodbye to all your new friends and the end of another singles vacation. Transfer to Catania airport for departure. We will offer a group transfer in the morning to the airport.

Piazza ArmerinaAfter breakfast at the hotel we will leave Palermo and drive to one of the most beautiful places in Sicily. It is a little place called Piazza Armerina and we will visit a beautiful Villa Romana. Piazza Armerina is a small town outside of Enna but it is full of historical and architectural treasures. The town has got a medieval layout and you will find there old churches and beautiful streets but especially a UNESCO-protected Villa Romana del Casale. Its paintings will take you back to the old Roman times and you will be able to imagine how life was in the 3rd century CE. Its mosaics cover an incredible 3500 square meters (about 38000 square feet). Then we will continue to the province of the town of Agrigento and we will check into a hotel at Sciacca. Sciacca, a lively beach town founded in the Roman times by thermal mineral springs of water, has got beautiful beaches and its main square is on a slope uphill.

Vacation Day 5 - Sciacca - Agrigento
Scala dei Turchi Sicily 9Today we will spend time enjoying the beauty of the Agrigento coast from a boat! Bring only your swimsuit, beach towel, smartphone and sunglasses with you. Come and dive into the crystalline waters of the Scala Dei Turchi and enjoy these places rich in art, culture and history. Swim in the crystal clear waters at the Stair of the Turks cliffs on our boating excursion from Agrigento. They are white cliffs that look like perfect steps heading down to the sea. It is a fascinating site. As you realize, it is not a real staircase but a natural stretch of a coastline that has become a Sicilian tourist seascape icon thanks to its special features. Nature, like a great artist, worked on it for a long time making it look like a wonderfully white terrace with the help of a sea and a salty breeze, smoothing out every angle.
Observe the Saracen tower and the coves of the coast. Stop to go for a refreshing dip in this scenic location. Continue west for stunning views of the lighthouse of Capo Rossello, the Bay of Madonnina, and Gucciarda rocks. Go for a second swim in a spot with blue water and breathtaking views. Sail past the dynamic beaches of Pietre Cadute, Siculiana, and Giallonardo before returning to your starting point in Agrigento.

Vacation Day 10 - Taormina - Mt Etna
Pearl of the MediterraneanTaormina, also known as the “Pearl of the Mediterranean” has been a sought-after vacation destination since Roman times. As probably the most perfect coastal resort town in Southern Italy, its popularity is entirely justified. Founded in the 3rd century BC, by the Greeks, Taormina has since become the inspiration for many novels and paintings. In fact, this setting inspired D.H. Lawrence’s novel Lady Chatterley's Lover, and Goethe termed Taormina as a “patch of paradise” in his novel Italian Journey. This morning we visit Mt. Setti Fatma WaterfallMoving through the valley we stop at Setti Fatma, a favorite weekend resort with beautiful streams and waterfalls. Enjoy a stroll through the typical Berber village, have lunch,l visit the famous tomb of Setti Fatma and take a short hike to the first waterfall. Then we visit a saffron farm, this spice is a key part of Moroccan tradition.
It is known as "red gold" due to its color and because it has long been the most expensive spice in the world. Between 150,000 and 200,000 Persian saffron (crocus sativus) flowers, which produce saffron, are required to obtain just a kilo!

Riu pool exercise RIU Palace Peninsula Riu Entertainment

Our hotel, the All-Inclusive Riu Palace Peninsula is located in the heart of Cancun. The resort is situated on a dazzling stretch of white sand beach and framed by tropical vegetation and crystal clear turquoise water.
The pools are definitely the centerpiece of the hotel. Separate, but close together, the hotel's three main pools -- infinity, sports activity pool with volleyball and basketball nets, and swimming -- are all located just before the beachfront and surrounded by neatly landscaped grounds. There's even a small archeological site by the swim-up pool bar.
Since Cancun is a tropical destination overflowing with miles of gorgeous Caribbean sea and beachfront, there's no questioning why most of Riu Peninsula's features are set outdoors. The beach is split into two sections: a sugar-sand beach punctuated with palm trees, loungers, and cabanas; and a rocky shoreline complete with crashing waves and natural vibe.
There is entertainment in the lounge-y outdoor, but covered, theater space, there's also an outdoor stage that hosts live music performances to kick off the night.

All Included in Your Weekend Package
Ferry to Isla Mujeres golf cart ride

There's no lack of bars at the Riu Palace Peninsula. From the classy ocean-view lobby bar with nightly piano player, to the 24-hour Sports Bar, to the swim-up pool bar, Riu keeps your whistle wet. While Sports Bar, filled with live sports games on screens, pool tables, and video games, may be the only joint open 24-hours, most other bars on the property open at 10 a.m. and close around midnight. Outdoor watering holes include Trinidad, the swim-up pool bar that also has a covered landlocked section with seating, and Tobago, the beach bar. At night Tobago transforms into a beachside lounge spot with soft lighting, cabanas, and lounge areas -- although it's usually fairly empty as people tend to stick around La Plaza or La Latino, the two bars flanking the theater, or inside the snazzy lobby bar, Cabanga.

Of course a trip to Cancun would not be complete without a shopping visit to the famous downtown flea market. Shop for all those Mexican souvenirs and tee shirts you need to bring home. Don't forget to bargain!Cancun Shopping

The Colorado House, built in 1851 was a successful Old town San Diegohotel, now the reconstructed building is the Wells Fargo Museum that displays exhibits related to mining, banking and stagecoach travel. The koalas thrive mainly because their sole food, eucalyptus, grows abundantly on the zoo grounds. Its many notable exhibits include Polar Bear zoowalk-through tropical rainforests, aviaries, a polar bear habitat with a chilled pool, an Asian river environment featuring tigers, and gorillas and Malayan sun bears in simulated natural habitats.
