Fabulous 4th Singles Weekend in Cody Itinerary
Vacation Day 1: Tuesday - Arrive in Cody
Upon arrival at the Yellowstone Regional airport in Cody, Wyoming (airport code - COD), make your way to the famous Buffalo Bill Village Resort and check in to the Comfort Inn. The area was built for Buffalo Bill himself. We will gather at 5:00 pm to meet our fellow travelers and head down the street to be treated to a wild west gunfight at 5:30pm.
Afterwards we will explore the streets of historic Cody and have time for shopping (think cowboy hat and boots) and dinner.
Vacation Day 2: Wednesday - Trolley Tour - Craft Fair - Welcome dinner & show
Today our morning starts with breakfast at the Irma followed by a 22 mile, one hour trolley tour. Onboard we'll hear amusing anecdotes about the history of Cody and it's former citizens. Not only do we visit the downtown historic district but will venture outside of town to the Shoshone River Canyon and Snake mountain. As we pass the spot where tryouts for Buffalo Bill's Wild West show were held we will hear stories of Annie Oakley, who worked for Buffalo Bill for 17 seasons. You might want to brush up on wild west Cody trivia because at the end of our trolley ride there will be a contest with winners receiving a wooden nickel!
Next take time to enjoy the annual Wild West Arts Fest set up on the streets of Cody. What makes this festival extra special is there are no commercially produced merchandise allowed to be sold; so you'll be sure to
discover some unique and interesting items to take home as souvenirs.
Tonight enjoy a fun-filled evening of cowboy food and great entertainment at the Cody Cattle Company. Be prepared to dine family style on picnic tables and a cement floor while listening to an hour long musical revue by the award-winning musician, Ryan Martin and the Triple C Cowboys band. These incredibly talented performers will keep us clapping for more as they dance, sing and share comical banter between songs.
Vacation Day 3: Thursday - Yellowstone National Park
Yellowstone National Park, established in 1872 as the world's first national park, offers a unique and awe-inspiring experience unlike any other place on Earth. Nestled atop a massive supervolcano, Yellowstone is a natural wonder that showcases the raw power and beauty of our planet. As you traverse the park, you'll be captivated by the sight of geysers erupting with boiling water and steam, their displays both mesmerizing and humbling. The park is home to over half of the world's geysers, including the iconic Old Faithful, which has been consistently erupting for thousands of years.
But Yellowstone is more than just a geothermal wonderland. The park's landscape is a breathtaking mosaic of majestic mountains, deep canyons, and expansive valleys. One of the most stunning sights is the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, where the Yellowstone River plunges over 300 feet in a dramatic waterfall, creating a spectacle of power and beauty. The canyon's vibrant colors, ranging from rusty reds to brilliant yellows, are a testament to the geothermal activity that has shaped this land over millennia.
In addition to its geological wonders, Yellowstone is a haven for wildlife. The park's vast, untouched wilderness provides sanctuary to a diverse array of animals, including grizzly bears, wolves, bison, and elk. These creatures roam freely through the park's forests, meadows, and valleys, offering visitors a rare opportunity to observe them in their natural habitat. Whether you're watching a herd of bison graze in the Lamar Valley or catching a glimpse of a wolf pack on the hunt, the experience is both thrilling and profound.
Yellowstone National Park is not just a destination; it's a reminder of the Earth's incredible forces and the delicate balance of its ecosystems. A visit here is a journey into the heart of nature, where every moment is a reminder of the power, beauty, and fragility of our planet.
Vacation Day 4: Friday - Stampede Parade - Buffalo Bill Center of the West - Trail Town - Cody Stampede Rodeo
After breakfast we start our day with the Stampede Parade, known the world over for being one of the best activities for the 4th of July holiday. We will see Rodeo Queens from various cities and states and even the Rodeo Queen USA participants. And, of course, no parade would

be complete without the local high school marching bands! Thousands of spectators line the streets of Cody to observe this magnificent spectacle.
Next we explore the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, which houses 5 world-class western museums under one roof: the Buffalo Bill Museum, the Plains Indian gallery, the Cody Firearms Exhibit, the Whitney Western Art museum and the Draper Natural History museum. While inside we will learn about trailblazing cowboys and cowgirls, the life of Buffalo Bill Cody and Plains Indian culture.
The Buffalo Bill museum focuses on the life and times of the noted guide, scout, frontiersman, showman, actor, entrepreneur, town founder and American icon, William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody (1846 – 1917). The museum also includes entertaining stories about the famous sharpshooter Annie Oakley, the history of the American cowboy, dude ranching and western conservation.
Walking through the Plains Indian gallery will give us a glimpse into the lives of the Plains Indian people, their history, values, traditions, and culture. On display are moccasins, peace medals, cradles, shields, buffalo hide tipis, tipi furnishings, bear claw necklaces, eagle feather bonnets, clothing, and much more.
The Cody Firearms Exhibit houses one of the largest and most comprehensive American firearm collection in the world, featuring over 7,000 firearms, and more than 30,000 related artifacts.
Dedicated in 1959 the Whitney western art museum highlights wildlife, landscapes, people and events and features a timeless collection of western classics from artists such as Frederic Remington, Charles Russell, Thomas Moran and Albert Bierstadt. As we stroll through you will see evidence of how art shaped the Wild West.
Since its inception in 2002, the Draper Museum has garnered international attention for it's focus on the natural history and ecology of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. To add to the day's enjoyment we will explore the old Trail Town, located next door to the Rodeo grounds. Voted the "best tourist attraction and historical
site" by True West magazine it displays 27 authentic western buildings and furnishings from the 1890s. Also inside the town are gravesites of such well-know characters as the mountain man John Johnston, about whom the movie "Jeremiah Johnson" was filmed and the outlaw cabin and saloon frequented by Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The site of the museum is actually the original area surveyed by Buffalo Bill in 1895 for the location of ‘Cody City’.
After such a day what could be better than a live rodeo! The Cody Stampede Rodeo has been a world famous event since 1938 giving the city the title of
Rodeo Capital of the World. This high energy event pits over 800 of the best contestants in the industry against over 400 animal athletes for more than $400,000 in prize money. We will witness bull riding, bronc riding, calf roping, barrel racing and, of course, the hilarious rodeo clowns in the outdoor Cody Rodeo arena. It's sure to be an evening you won't forget. Starting at dusk, we look north for the spectacular display set over the Shoshone river. There's no better way to experience Independence Day than to celebrate it in a BIG WAY in the small western town of Cody, Wyoming.
Vacation Day 5: Saturday - Wild Mustang Tour - Musical - Farewell Dinner - July 4th
What makes this trip even more unforgettable? How about an amazing wildlife safari in the McCullough Peaks to search for Wild Mustangs? We head out with our local guide into the wilderness to the most likely areas to spot mustangs. Along the way keep an eye out for western wildlife that includes Blacktailed Prairie Dogs, Coyotes, Golden Eagles, Mule Deer and Pronghorn Antelope. Our tour provides a unique opportunity to see Mustangs grazing, playing, fighting, and sleeping. These powerful and majestic creatures are sure to put on a dazzling display that’ll have us scrambling for our cameras to capture the next “great shot.”
Our afternoon starts with the popular musical, The Legend of Buffalo Bill Cody, a 2 hour historically-based, comedic presentation of the story of Buffalo Bill and his famous Wild West show with dancing, singing, music and humor. The Wild West Spectacular is not only entertaining but also full of fun history. It brings to life the legend of Buffalo Bill Cody, the greatest showman ever and the town of Cody, Wyoming's town namesake. Take the opportunity to meet "Wild Bill" Hickok, Annie Oakley, Frank Butler, sharp shooters and can-can girls during the intermission Or you may just want to "belly up to the bar" and have a sarsaparilla!
Next we again go back in time with a visit to the Dug Up Gun Museum. With over 1,000 relics on display, the museum reminds us how important guns were in the old west. These beautiful artifacts have been unearthed from battle sites that include the American Revolutionary War, the American Civil War, World War I and World War II, There are also weapons that were prevalent in the California Gold Rush era and the roaring 1920s.
Tonight we wind up our trip to the Old West by sharing our farewell dinner at Irma's, widely known for it's incredibly delicious Prime Rib, Buffalo Rib Eye Steak, Wild West Salmon, and Jumbo Shrimp. The dining room interior features maroon carpet and cappuccino colored walls with taxidermy pieces, vintage photo art and floor-to-ceiling windows.
