Cruise Day 2: Le Havre (Paris), France (Friday: October 11, 2024 / 6:00am - 7:00pm) Le Havre is a major port in northern France's Normandy region, where the Seine River meets the English Channel. It's joined to the city across the estuary, Honfleur, by the Pont de Normandie cable-stayed bridge. Following WWII, Le Havre's heavily damaged city center was famously redesigned by Belgian architect Auguste Perret. Today it features many landmark examples of reinforced-concrete architecture.

So worth the 2 1/2 hour drive as Mont-Saint-Michel is one of Europe’s most unforgettable sights and will take your breath away.. Built between the 11th and 16th centuries, it is set in the mesmerizing bay where Normandy and Brittany merge. Rising hundreds of feet above a rocky islet amidst vast sandbanks exposed to powerful tides stands a Gothic Benedictine abbey surrounded by a medieval village.
We will have a few hours to explore the village and Mont St Michel's surrounding views. There are many things to see including museums, churches and the spectacular Abbey (10 Euro). The climb up to the Mont Saint-Michel is considerable: the pathway leading to the top is steep, narrow and cobblestoned and there is a lot of stairs, especially when going to the Abbey. You can explore as much or as little as you would like.

Our old town walk will take us to the best of countless bridges, chocolate shops and medieval treasures highlighting the splendor of this historically rich city. We will tour the striking canal side views, cross legendary bridges and have some breaks for photos at the Market Square, Belfry Tower, Quay of the Rosary, Chapel of the Holy Blood and Saint John’s Hospital, an eight hundred-year-old venue once caring for pilgrims and travelers.
Before we depart for our ship the guide will be happy to direct us towards the most delectable Belgian chocolate shops, legendary breweries or waffle shops for a taste of local delicacies.

At one time, Zaanse Schans had more than 500 windmills along its canals. Sadly, most of them are long gone. We will walk tour past some of the historic green-timbered houses and canals to a working windmill.

Then we will drive back to the beautiful capital of the Netherlands for an overview tour of Amsterdam. See the architecture of city mansions, countless canals and amazing views from the famous museum district to the historic city center. We will walk by St. Nicholas Basilica and around Amsterdam's main square, the Dam.
Cruise Day 5: Cruising ( Monday: October 14, 2024 )Our first day at sea should be relaxing but lots of fun. So let's get to know each other using the interesting Conversation Starter questions. We never know what the question is or the unexpected answers from your fellow cruisers.

The Gokstad, Tune and Oseberg were sea-going ships before they were towed ashore and used in funeral rituals for their wealthy owners around the Oslo Fjord. Cruise Day 2: Brussels / Bruges (Zeebrugge), Belgium (Monday: June 3, 2024 / 9:00am - 6:00pm) Bruges is an ancient city located in the northern part of Belgium, about 62 miles from Brussels. The city was once a main port of Belgium welcomed artists and nobles from Europe during the 15th century and is distinguished by canals, cobbled streets and medieval buildings. Its port, Zeebrugge, is an important center for fishing and European trade. In the city center’s Burg square, the 14th-century Stadhuis (City Hall) has an ornate carved ceiling. Nearby, Market square features a 13th-century belfry with a 47-bell carillon and a 272 foot tower with panoramic views.
Included Shore Excursion: Shuttle to Bruges & Private Walking Tour - Our drive to Bruges is about a half an hour and where our walking tour begins. Our old town walk will take us to the best of countless bridges, chocolate shops and medieval treasures highlighting the splendor of this historically rich city. Having gracefully aged from its days as a medieval trading center, Bruges seems almost too good to be true, made of stunning gothic and Renaissance buildings and presenting a charming atmosphere today.

Cycling is key to the city’s character, and there are numerous bike paths.

Travelers associate Holland with its windmills, and Zaanse Schans has plenty of historic windmills and houses, most completed in the late 1500s to the 1600s. At one time, Zaanse Schans had more than 500 windmills along its canals. Sadly, most of them are long gone. Their scattered skyline is colorful, their blue-black mountain backdrop is stunning – they even have a handsome stave church, one hotel and a supermarket. The fishing is excellent, the mitten-makers are busy, and the wildlife is contented. Minke and humpback whales swim by in the fjord, while white-tailed sea eagles (Greenlanders call them “Nattoralik”) guard the sky and bring good luck to those who spot them. A stop at a workshop that crafts coats from sealskin will provide a glimpse into the unique local economy – in Greenland, seal meat is a mainstay in the diet and no by-products are wasted.

Northern Lights Singles Cruise
4 Ports in Norway - Princess Cruises - From England
October 15 to 27, 2020
Seeing the northern lights, also known as aurora borealis, are amazing to see due to the surreal way light moves in waves of green color across the nighttime sky. The Northern Lights is a magical experience and can only be seen above the magnetic pole of the northern hemisphere. The Lights appear to those on the ground in different forms: a swirl of colors dancing through the sky, rays of light reaching up into space or a giant fissure stretching across the sky. The lights are strongest right beneath the auroral ovals in northern Norway, which makes it the perfect destination for our Northern Lights singles cruise.

Cruise Day 5: Ushuaia, Argentina (Wednesday: March 1, 2023 / 10:00am - 9:00pm)Ushuaia is a resort town in Argentina. It's located on the Tierra del Fuego archipelago, the southernmost tip of South America, nicknamed the “End of the World.” The windswept town, perched on a steep hill, is surrounded by the Martial Mountains and the Beagle Channel. It's the gateway to Antarctica cruises and tours to nearby Isla Yécapasela, known as “Penguin Island” for its penguin colonies.
Included Shore Excursion: Tierra Del Fuego Park and End of the World Train - Tierra del Fuego national park is located in the southwest of Argentina bordering Chile and it is the southernmost part of the Andean Patagonian forest. Enjoy the wonderful flora and fauna and over 20 species of mammal, including red fox, the guanaco, the otter and the Canadian beaver. This is also the natural habitat of the black eyed albatross, the condor, and the white cuaquenes. Then we board the southernmost railway in the world, reminiscence of the infamous Train of the Prisoners, which used to transport prisoners to supply Ushuaia villages with wood. The train starts slowly at 4.3 miles per hour, like in the early 20th century when prisoners still supplied the villages with wood - this stopped in the middle of the century and reopened for tourists in 1994. On our tour, we will learn the importance of the railway in the 20th century: without the railway, the prison would be without wood for cooking and heating. The railway passes through the forest, and we will be able to see the eastern slope of Mount Susana and then the central part of the Pipo River Valley.
Cruise Day 6: Cruise Cape Horn (Thursday: March 2, 2023/ 6:00am - 9:00pm)Cape Horn is a rocky headland on Hornos Island, in southern Chile's Tierra del Fuego archipelago. It's surrounded by wild seas off the southern tip of South America where the Pacific and Atlantic oceans meet. The albatross-shaped Cape Horn Monument commemorates the lives of thousands of seafarers who perished attempting to sail around the cape. A secluded lighthouse and the tiny Stella-Maris Chapel are nearby.
Grab your camera and a great seat on deck for cruising the Patagonian channels along the southern coast of Chile. Our splendid sail through the majestic Chilean fjords includes the famous Tierra del Fuego along the Straits of Magellan. Our relaxing passage through some of nature's most exciting creations offers vistas of azure waters around lesser known fjords as well as the world famous lighthouses of Cape Horn.
Cruise Day 7: Antarctica Cruising (Friday: March 3, 2023/ 11:00am-1:00pm)
Schollart ChannelSchollaert Channel is a channel between Anvers Island on the southwest and Brabant Island on the northeast, connecting Dallmann Bay and Gerlache Strait, in the Palmer Archipelago. Discovered in 1898 by the Belgian Antarctic Expedition under Gerlache, who named it for Frans Schollaert, Belgian statesman.
Experience the spectacular wildlife that inhabits the great white South Pole and breathe in the exhilarating air. With Anvers Island to the southwest and Brabant Island to the northeast, take in the mesmerizing sights of massive ice flows, humpback whales, waddling penguins, leopard seals and more in their natural, and somewhat extreme, element. You are certain to leave with amazing memories and pictures, as we cruise through Schollart Channel located near Antarctica.
Cruise Day 7: Antarctica Cruising (Friday: March 3, 2023/ 2:30pm-4:00pm)
Paradise Bay, AntarcticaParadise Harbor, also known as Paradise Bay, is a wide embayment behind Lemaire and Bryde Islands in Antarctica, indenting the west coast of Graham Land between Duthiers and Leniz Points. The name was first applied by whalers operating in the vicinity and was in use by 1920.
This name aptly reflects the stunning beauty we'll find here, just as the clear waters beautifully reflect the spectacular mountains, such as Rojas Peak, Bryde Peak, and the Petzvol Glacier. Within these waters we may see Minke whales feeding and Gentoo penguins curiously observing us from the rocky shores.
Cruise Day 7: Antarctica Cruising (Friday: March 3, 2023/ 5:00pm-7:00pm) Gerlache StraitGerlache Strait or de Gerlache Strait or Détroit de la Belgica is a channel/strait separating the Palmer Archipelago from the Antarctic Peninsula. The Belgian Antarctic Expedition, under Lt. Adrien de Gerlache, explored the strait in January and February 1898, naming it for the expedition ship Belgica.
A number of geographical anomalies around this channel make these waters among the most plankton-rich in the world. You're likely to see a profusion of whales feeding in the rich ecosystem, which is a sight you'll not soon forget.
Cruise Day 8: Elephant Island, Antarctica (Saturday: March 4, 2023/ 2:00pm-6:00pm)Elephant Island is an ice-covered mountainous island off the coast of Antarctica in the outer reaches of the South Shetland Islands, in the Southern Ocean. This tiny island in the Weddell Sea of Antarctica plays a role in one of seafaring history's most legendary exploits. When the brave crew of the Endurance, led by intrepid explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, was trapped in the ice during a 1914 polar expedition, they took refuge on this island until help arrived. And, even though they spent the entire winter waiting for rescue, not a single crew member was lost.
Elephant Island has claims from not only Argentina and Chile, but also the United Kingdom. Brazil also has two shelters here that contain up to six researchers that work during the summer months. The island is covered with elephant seals, hence the name Elephant Island. At Cape Lookout, a bluff on the southern coast where various penguins (chinstrap, gentoo, and macaroni) call home. Other birds of note include sheathbills, cape petrels, and stormy petrels; it's also a great place to spot the elephant seals and Antarctic fur seals.

Time for another exclusive crafty morning and fun games afternoon with your singles cruise host onboard ship.

By the waterfront, a whalebone arch stands near the entrance of Christ Church Cathedral, which was built in the late 1800s. Magellanic penguins gather at nearby Gypsy Cove.
